about us

Pitipú is Roberto Abheeru Berruti and Asya Dawn Jaya who are companions of work, adventure and life and also parents of Suriya.

Born in Sarawak, Malaysia where she spent the formative years of her life Asya has a degree in Fine Arts from the Nova Scotia College of Art and Design in Halifax, Canada and her Masters degree in Art History from the University of British Columbia in Vancouver, Canada.
As the designer of Pitipú she draws from her background melding Eastern and Western sensibilities. About her Roberto says "Asya is an artist in the pure sense of the word, pure creative chaos. Collaborating with her is a real challenge for my mind that tends to be logical and super organized: Asya creates in a continuous energetic stream that is in constant motion."

Roberto was born close to Alessandria in Piemonte, Italy and grew up in a farming environment where a strong work ethic is the backbone of life. After high school he received a diploma in Organization and Production Management and worked consecutively as a Buying Manager for a well known chain of supermarkets. From 1997 to 2002 he drastically changed direction in his career and dedicated his time to learning and teaching meditation techniques and body awareness. As the organising half of Pitipú, Roberto occupies himself with all the business aspects of the company from production planning, marketing and sales.

Asya: "We started collaborating in 2003 in a moment when we were both looking for something new. I had just moved to Italy and had started creating silver jewellery and this stimulated Roberto to try and sell it. At the beginning we started to sell at little village markets and then we moved on to more important craft fairs. For three years we spent most of our time between the studio and travelling around with our camper from one event to another. When the petrol was finished for travelling... the idea of the Pitipú brand and shop was born."

If you want to know more... read the following interview by Matteo Gallini.

"We would like to thank all the friends who have collaborated with us in the creation of Pitipú and of this site. Max for his photographic support, our models Marta, Sally, Tita, Maya, Sheela. A special thank to Matteo for his interview and to Andrea and Claudio for their patience. Finally, thanks to Andreas Bruckel for his photograph in black and white in Pitipú events."
